About Me
When I graduated from the University of Akron in the winter of 2003, I would likely not have predicted that a few years later I would be seated in the aft salon of a 47-foot Buddy Davis yacht, taking a small leave of absence from my duties as first-mate on a charter to Key West, and writing the introduction to my blog about life and fishing in the Florida Keys.

Yet here I am, not so long removed from my previous life- one that was destined to play out from behind a desk chair in some office building in Ohio- typing away as another wave crashes against the bow and saltwater trickles down the starboard windows.
Just another transplant from up north that became sick of the gray skies and gloomy weather (and the horrible sports teams), and chose to follow his dream and move to the tropics and figured it would be fun to write about it.
Since moving to the Keys I’ve met a variety of interesting and truly great people, discovered many beautiful and unique places, caught a variety of fish, seen a vast array of wildlife, and experienced the best and the worst the Florida Keys has to offer.

If you’re planning to visit the Keys on your next vacation, or are a local reading up on the latest happenings around the islands, I hope you enjoy FromTheYak.com, and find it entertaining as well as educational.
From restaurant reviews, to fishing reports, to kayak trails, to local gossip, this is the place to turn for everything you ever wanted to know about life, fish and kayaks in the Florida Keys.
And while you’re at it, check out my website TryCharterFishing.com to book a trip with one of the best guides in the Keys, or to read the latest Florida Keys fishing reports.
Tight Lines & Calm Seas and thanks for reading!
