Here are a few pics that I salvaged off my old camera’s memory card. Most of these were taken on my most recent Florida Keys daytime swordfishing excursions aboard the Permit.

So my wife and I are new to fishing – though would consider ourselves skilled divers having taken trips to Maldives, Egypt and Cozumel in the past. We are planning a trip to the Keys for a change for next year and having read various blog posts of late, been recommended Marathon as a destination. Travelling from the UK, I will be booking either through Golden Florida or Florida Keys villas but not 100% on the specific Keys location (other than the aforementioned early preference for Marathon. Would love to know where the above pictures were taken. I guess if i visit Flickr, I could also find some impressive images there that will help me find the ideal spot. So, where are you based in the Keys?

I live in Key Colony Beach- which is Marathon area. If you’re looking for a laid back community, with some good restaurants, but not all the noise and traffic of Key West, you will love Marathon. Great fishing/diving here. Key Colony Beach is it’s own little community. Lots of vacation rentals here.

If not Marathon, Islamorada would be my second choice.

Many thanks Drew, Marathon it is then : ) thanks for your help.

Check out Key Colony Beach while you’re looking at Marathon- you can walk to two or three restaurants- nice and relaxed town- and if you get a vacation rental you’ll likely get a membership to the cabana club which has a pool and a small beach. Have fun!
